REPORTS

President's Report 2021

Firstly, I wish to advise that our previous treasurer, Ron Hall has recently suffered a stroke. We wish him well.

I would like to thank all of our members for adhering to COVID restrictions and following the COVID protocols plus regularly recording their names and phone numbers as required.

I would also like to thank the committee for sharing responsibilities during COVID restrictions, especially Michael Fisher for changing the lists each day, among other things.

NOW A BIT OF INSIGHT INTO 2020

Following an upgrade of the lights last year we have had the trees around the lights cut back to improve playing conditions.

TREASURER’S REPORT: You have just received this from James and I would like to congratulate him on an excellent job in his first year as Treasurer.

He was the only respondent to our advertisement in the Newsletter, seeking a replacement for Ron Hall.

I would also like to thank Peter Baker for his overview of the Report.

During COVID, we started discussions with Tennis Victoria with regard to providing financial support to junior players (possibly a scholarship). We hope to continue these discussions at an appropriate time.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: Council is always keen for local groups to be involved in the local community. So we will be continuing with our coaching for the 4th year at Albert Park College and coaching for Galilee P.S. started this week.

Also, we became involved through Tennis Victoria and Port Phillip Council in an 8 week program called ”GET YOUR RAQUET ON”. Nicole and her son Jack provided some terrific activities for up to 20 very enthusiastic participants for 8 weeks. The aim was to get people back to tennis. The whole program was received very positively.

SECURITY: Unfortunately, we have had a number of break-ins to the courts resulting in heavy drinking and broken glass etc. As a result, we now have a security system in place which reports back to the security firm if anything happens. Paul has been the driving force behind this.

Repairs to the fences and around the entrance gate where the wire has been cut will be completed in the next month.

Things are getting back to normal with the Ladies and Men’s teams starting competition. Best wishes to both teams for a great season.

Finally, thank you to all members for their support during 2020 which has been a fairly difficult year and into 2021.

Peter Davidson
